The Press has PTSD

Byron York had this up in the Corner today
THE UNSATIRIZABLE NYT [Byron York]

Why did the White House press corps flip out during the Dick Cheney hunting accident story? According to an expert quoted in today's New York Times, it's an illness -- and George W. Bush is the cause:

Renana Brooks, a clinical psychologist practicing in Washington who said she had counseled several White House correspondents, said the last few years had given rise to ''White House reporter syndrome,'' in which competitive high achievers feel restricted and controlled and become emotionally isolated from others who are not steeped in the same experience.

She said the syndrome was evident in the Cheney case, which she described as an inconsequential event that produced an outsize feeding frenzy. She said some reporters used the occasion to compensate for not having pressed harder before the Iraq war.

''It's like any post-traumatic stress,'' she said, ''like when someone dies and you think you could have saved them.''

Teacher has BDS

Kim Priestap, the newest author in the Wizbang Blog family, had a post up today, pointing to Michelle Malkin's post on the Denver area student who recorded his teacher's BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) outburst. The student apparently regularly records classes to help him study, and this time he caught the teacher being himself. Listen to this clip. It rambles on for 20 minutes, but it is full of interesting parts.

This is a geography teacher! Imagine if he taught politics. Kim Priestap goes on:

Sean Allen, the student who taped his teacher, must be commended for exposing his teacher's liberalism and lies. Usually when we talk about looney leftists and education, it is the context of college professors, but it's easy to forget that there are also plenty of looney leftists teaching in high schools all across the country infecting our kids' minds with anti-American bunk.

Update: Stop the ACLU is reporting that teacher Jay Bennish has hired ACLU attorney David Lane who also represented professor Ward Churchill.

Sounds interesting.

That's it for now podcatchers.
